Sensory Theatre

Having a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder, I found that Relaxed Performances in theatre which were designed to suit their needs failed to engage them, a sensory seeker.

It was this dissatisfaction with mainstream theatre that spurred me on to research Sensory Theatre as part of my artistic development for my Masters.

The following video was created as part of my RCS module on my artistic development in this area over the past 2 years. It was never created to go on my professional website. However, I think it will give people an understanding of my development, growth and passion in this area.

I’m currently looking for collaborators and support to work on Ooshga Aveen, a sensory theatre piece based around bubbles and water that can be performed in a Covid Friendly way. This piece is in development with Naomi Stirrat, actor and theatre maker.
